Boys and Schooling in a Neoliberal Age

Dr Konstanze Spohrer and Dr Garth Stahl have co-authored a chapter on this topic for the new edited collection, Masculinity and Aspiration in an Era of Neoliberal Education: International Perspectives (Routledge, 2017). Their chapter, ‘Policy Logics, Counter-Narratives, and New Directions. Boys and Schooling in a Neoliberal Age’, argues that it is important to give attention to the ways boys and young men negotiate, contest, and resist official discourses of aspiration and success in the context of their everyday lives. Crucially, future research should contribute to unearthing a wider field of potentialities for young people’s future imaginaries.
